A gaze into the dark side of life, steeped in velvet shadows and the narcotic hunger of immortality.

An Infernal Study — Piazza Solferino, Turin

I did not photograph the damned.

I opened the door.

Beneath the stone and darkness of Piazza Solferino, something seemed to be waiting — bodies imprisoned in agony, mouths frozen around ancient screams, faces twisted beneath the unbearable knowledge of a punishment without end.

For years they had remained silent.

Stone cannot scream.

Stone cannot beg.

Stone cannot remember the moment when God turned His face away.

And yet, through the black aperture of my camera, they began to move.

The shadows deepened. The edges of the world collapsed inward. The monument stopped belonging to the living. Flesh seemed to surface from marble. Eyes reassembled themselves inside dead faces. The condemned strained against eternity as though the camera had, for one impossible instant, returned to them the curse of awareness.

And awareness is the cruelest gift ever given to the damned.

Because Hell is not fire.

Hell is memory that cannot decay.

Memory of light that will never return.

Memory of mercy that no longer exists.

Memory of Heaven with no possibility of arrival.

There is no release there. No sleep. No morning. No final silence after the scream.

Only the scream itself.

Endless.

Lucifer does not need to drag them deeper. They are already where they belong. They know it. They understand it. They endure it.

And eternity has only just begun to notice them.

Turin has always been a city of thresholds — hidden geometries, sealed symbols, places where the sacred and the profane overlap like wounds that never close. Here, even shadow feels structured. Intentional. Waiting.

It does not conceal.

It invites.

The lens did not simply record it.

It disturbed it.

A fracture opened — not in stone, but in perception itself. A narrowing between worlds so precise it could only exist for the duration of a single exposure.

A fraction of a second.

Enough.

I believed I was documenting a monument.

But the more I looked, the more the images reversed their meaning.

I was not observing it.

It was observing me.

The statues were no longer still.

They were aware.

And behind them — behind the stone, behind the composition, behind the collapsing geometry of shadow — something vast and patient pressed itself against the surface of the frame.

Not revealing.

Not entering.

Waiting to be acknowledged.

Lucifer does not always appear at the threshold.

Sometimes he is the threshold.

And sometimes Hell does not break in.

It simply opens when it is seen.

I pressed the shutter.

It was already too late.
